The protection level of the weighing sensor refers to the dustproof and waterproof level, and common protection levels include IP65, IP66, IP67, and IP68. IP is the abbreviation for Ingress Protection in English, and the following two numbers represent two parameters, namely dust and water resistance.
The internationally recognized protection standard system is arranged in three numbers, from left to right, representing dustproof, moisture-proof (or waterproof), and impact resistance. The reason why the protection level of the weighing sensor is only two digits and the third digit is omitted is because the weighing sensor itself has the ability to resist vibration and impact, so the third digit is omitted. The larger the number of IP protection level, the higher the protection level.
The first number represents the level of dust prevention and prevention of foreign object invasion, with numbers from 0 to 6. The protection range and description of each number are as follows:
Number 0: No protection. No special protection for external people or objects.
Number 1: Prevent the invasion of solid foreign objects with a diameter greater than 50mm. Prevent the human body (such as the palm of the hand) from accidentally coming into contact with the internal parts of the electrical appliance, and prevent the invasion of larger objects (with a diameter greater than 50mm).
Number 2: Prevent the invasion of solid foreign objects with a diameter greater than 12mm. Prevent human fingers from coming into contact with internal parts of electrical appliances, and prevent foreign objects of medium size (diameter greater than 12.5mm) from invading.
Number 3: Prevent solid foreign objects larger than 2.5mm in diameter from invading. Prevent tools, wires, and similar small foreign objects with a diameter or thickness greater than 2.5mm from invading and coming into contact with internal parts of electrical appliances.
Number 4: Prevent solid foreign objects larger than 1.0mm in diameter from invading. Prevent tools, wires, and similar small foreign objects with a diameter or thickness greater than 1.0mm from invading and coming into contact with internal parts of electrical appliances.
Number 5: Prevent foreign objects and dust. Completely preventing foreign objects from invading, although it cannot completely prevent dust from invading, the amount of dust invasion will not affect the normal operation of the electrical appliance.
Number 6: Prevent foreign objects and dust. Completely prevent the invasion of foreign objects and dust.
The current dust level of weighing sensors is usually the number 6, which is the highest level, completely preventing the invasion of foreign objects and dust.
The second number represents the level of protection of the weighing sensor from water immersion, ranging from 0 to 8. The protection range and description of each number are as follows:
Number 0: No protection. No special protection against water or moisture.
Number 1: Prevent water droplets from entering. Vertically falling water droplets (such as condensate) will not cause damage to electrical appliances.
Number 2: When tilted 15 degrees, it can still prevent water droplets from entering. When the appliance is tilted vertically to 15 degrees, dripping water will not cause damage to the appliance.
Number 3: Prevent the intrusion of sprayed water. Prevent rain or damage to electrical appliances caused by water sprayed in a direction with a vertical angle of less than 60 degrees.
Number 4: Prevent splashing water from entering. Prevent water splashing from all directions from invading electrical appliances and causing damage.
Number 5: Prevent the intrusion of sprayed water. To prevent damage to electrical appliances caused by water sprayed from nozzles from all directions.
Number 6: Prevent the intrusion of large waves. The electrical appliances installed on the deck can prevent damage caused by the invasion of large waves.
Number 7: Prevent water intrusion during immersion. Immersion of electrical appliances in water for a certain period of time or water pressure below a certain standard can ensure that damage is not caused by immersion.
Number 8: Prevent water intrusion during sinking. Electrical appliances sink indefinitely under specified water pressure, ensuring that they are not damaged due to immersion.
In the field of weighing, there are not very high requirements for the use environment of symmetric weight sensors. IP65 and IP66 grades are usually chosen. For some special use environments, load sensors with protection levels of IP67 and IP68 are required. Sensors with IP67 and IP68 protection levels have very high production process requirements, and currently only a few manufacturers can produce them, especially the highest waterproof and dustproof IP68 level.
