Choosing a weighing sensor should consider the working environment

SelectLoad CellWhen selecting a suitable model, consider the working environment of the sensor, such as explosion-proof model, high-temperature model, moisture-proof model, etc. The correct selection of weighing sensors can improve the stability, reliability, safety, and service life of the weighing instrument.

(1) Flammable and explosive environment

Equipment working in flammable and explosive environments has high requirements for the explosion-proof performance of sensors. It is necessary to purchase explosion-proof type weighing sensors, choose different explosion-proof strengths based on the environmental level, and ensure the explosion-proof performance of cable leads. If a load cell with explosion-proof capability is not used, it may cause complete damage to the sensor and pose a significant threat to equipment and personal safety.

(2) High temperature environment

In high-temperature environments, it may cause problems such as melting of coating materials, melting of solder joints, and structural changes in the stress inside the elastic body. Therefore, high-temperature resistant weighing sensors need to be selected, and in addition, insulation, water cooling, or air cooling devices need to be added.

(3) Wet environment

When working in a humid environment, moisture may seep into the weighing sensor, which may affect its performance. At this time, it is necessary to choose weighing sensors with different protection levels based on the length of on-site humidity. For sensors that work in humid environments for a long time, it is recommended to choose IP67 and IP68 protection levels; If in an environment that requires flushing, it is recommended to choose IP68 or IP68/IP69+protection level.
　

In addition, dust can also have an impact on sensors, but in today's sensor protection levels, the dust level is usually the highest level 6, blocking all dust from entering, so it can be ignored.

(4) Corrosive environment

In corrosive environments, stainless steel materials or sensors with nickel plating or plastic spraying on the surface should be selected, which have strong corrosion resistance and airtightness. Otherwise, factors such as sensor damage and reduced service life may occur.
