Automotive sensors can be divided into temperature sensors, pressure sensors, speed sensors, speed/acceleration sensors, flow sensors, liquid sensors, displacement and orientation sensors, gas concentration sensors, and other sensors according to their applications. They are applied in automobiles, and their main measurement objects are as follows:
Temperature sensors: coolant, exhaust gas, intake air, engine oil, automatic transmission oil, interior air, exterior air.
Pressure sensors: intake manifold pressure, atmospheric pressure, combustion pressure, engine oil pressure, automatic transmission oil pressure, tire pressure, etc.
Speed sensors: crankshaft angle, crankshaft speed, steering wheel angle, and wheel speed.
Speed/acceleration sensor: vehicle speed, acceleration.
Flow sensors: intake air volume, fuel flow rate, exhaust gas recirculation volume, secondary air volume, refrigerant flow rate.
Liquid level sensors: fuel, coolant, electrolyte, washing fluid, engine oil, brake fluid.
Displacement direction sensor: throttle opening, exhaust gas recirculation valve opening, vehicle height, driving distance, driving direction, GPS positioning.
Gas concentration sensors: oxygen, carbon dioxide, nitric oxide, nitrogen dioxide, hydrogen carbide, diesel smoke, etc.
Other sensors: torque, deflagration, fuel composition, humidity, glass frost, alcohol identification, battery voltage, load, air volume, rainfall, lighting, etc.
Due to the harsh operating environment of the car itself, such as high temperatures, severe cold, rain, snow, and bumps, the sensors used in the car must also be able to withstand these tests. Overall, automotive sensors must meet the following requirements:
1. Strong adaptability and resistance to harsh environments
Cars may travel in any region of the Earth, with significant differences in environmental conditions, ranging from extremely cold regions in the North and South Poles to extremely hot climates like the equator. Therefore, it is required that sensors have strong adaptability and can operate under conditions of -40 to 80 ℃ without the need to adjust normal operations. Cars may work in extremely harsh weather conditions, sometimes filled with dust and sometimes mixed with wind and rain, so sensors should have good sealing, moisture resistance, and strong corrosion resistance.
2. Strong anti-interference ability
In addition to being able to adapt to harsh external environments, automotive sensors should also be able to resist various interferences from components such as the engine. Especially for sensors installed in the engine compartment, in addition to being able to withstand the high temperature, high pressure, and corrosion of combustion exhaust during engine operation, they also require good seismic performance and resistance to strong vibrations during engine operation. In addition, electromagnetic waves are generated during engine operation, so sensors are required to have anti-interference ability. The voltage of automotive power sources (generators, batteries, etc.) can vary from 6 to 16V, and sometimes even add positive and negative high voltage pulses exceeding 100V, so they should also have the ability to withstand surges.
3. High stability and reliability
The various components of a car are generally required to operate for 10& amp; amp; Times; Above 104km, and can still meet the specified technical specifications without the need for replacement or adjustment. Therefore, sensors must have high stability and reliability.
4. Low price, suitable for mass production, easy to repair and replace
This requires good consistency of automotive sensors, without the need for complex adjustments, and is suitable for automated production.
Modern cars that use electronic control systems or devices cannot do without sensors, such as automatic transmissions, anti lock braking systems, and drive anti slip systems. Especially in recent years, there has been an increasing number of electronic devices used in vehicles, such as safety alarm devices, communication devices, entertainment devices, and auxiliary driving devices used to improve comfort and reduce fatigue. Of course, domestic cars have only recently started in the field of electronic control technology, with a greater focus on electronic control of the engine. This is why automotive sensors have a broader development space in China.
